Touhou is pretty well known, and TH7 is probably the most known out of all of them. You can find versions online with an english patch (Which mine is), and it runs as a 800×600 game. Not the greatest graphics in the world, but the music is superb. Personal favorite is “Phantom Ensemble”, the Prismriver Sisters’ Theme Song.
The Game takes place in Gensokyo. In Perfect Cherry Blossom it is May and the spring has not yet come. The main characters, Reimu, Marisa, and Sakuya head out on journies to save the spring. There are six stages for the main storyline, with two extra stages (Which I have yet to play). The first stage pits you against Chirno halfway through and Letty at the end. Simple bosses who reveal little about what is going on. Your chosen character rushes off to the second stage in which the Half-Animal Chen fights you in the town of Mayohiga. Keep on rolling and you end up against Alice Marigold appears along side her dolls. Flying up to the sky shows many cherry blossoms and pits you against Lily White and The Prismriver Sisters. Pushing her way through the two bosses brings you to the Netherworld to fight the ends of the game. Youmu appears, a half-ghost, half-human being boss who wants to take the spring from you to make the Youkai Cherry Tree, Saigyou Ayakashi, bloom. Rushing forth brings Youmu up again and soon after Yuyuko appears, the final boss.
If you used continues, you get the Bad Endings, and since I suck I didn’t get a good ending. D: So I shall get better.
The game is well made and really addicting. The translations a bit weird, but the again so are the conversations. The conversations don’t seem to be linked in a specific way and sound weird at points. However, Sakuya’s line “That and a spare set of knives” followed by Alice saying “I… Uh… KNIVES?!” was hillarious. :3 I love Sakuya because of this set of lines. The music in the game is very pretty and so worth the play just to hear it in combat. The game is a curtain fire deal, and somtimes I get distracted because of the beautiful patterns the bullets form.
All in all, worth the download~. <3
Feel free to laugh at my horrid end-game score, I know it sucks.
